My story
Long before I knew what engineering was, I was simply a curious child.
Growing up in Afghanistan, I was fascinated by the world around me. I would spend hours looking at the sky and the moon, imagining what existed beyond what I could see. I believed that if I climbed to the top of the highest mountain, I would be closer to touching the sky. I wondered why the sky was blue and created my own explanations. In my mind, the sky was like a giant blue cover with tiny holes where God poured water through, which fell as rain, and when it was cold enough, it turned into snow before reaching the ground.
Those ideas were wonderfully wrong, but they reflected something that has never changed: I have always wanted to understand how the world works. Looking back, I realize I wasn't trying to explain the sky I was trying to understand the world.
As I grew older, curiosity became a passion for learning. Today, that same curiosity has led me to pursue Mechanical Engineering. The questions have changed, but the excitement has not. Instead of wondering why the sky is blue, I now study mathematics, physics, mechanics, and engineering to better understand the universe and I hope, contribute to it by designing solutions that improve people's lives.
My journey, however, has not been straightforward. Education is something I have had to fight for, first in Afghanistan and now in Indonesia. Leaving home in search of safety did not make continuing my education any easier. Although I was given refuge, many opportunities remain out of reach because refugees are not permitted to work legally and have limited access to higher education, financial assistance, and professional opportunities.
Despite those challenges, I have refused to let my circumstances define my future.
In 2022, I graduated from high school through Elite Open School at Roshan Learning Center. I later received a scholarship to study at Sampoerna University through its academic collaboration with Broward College. Today, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering through the University of Arizona program at Sampoerna University.
Throughout my journey, I have tried to make the most of every opportunity I have been given. I have volunteered as a math and science mentor at the same school where I was once a student, helping refugee children continue exploring their own curiosity about the world. I founded and managed a small handcrafted candle business, I have also served with youth organizations, participated in engineering projects, built technical and leadership skills, and pursued every opportunity to grow as an engineer and as a person.
As a refugee, financing a university education remains one of my greatest challenges. Without the legal right to work in my host country, I rely on scholarships and the generosity of people who believe in the value of education and in my potential.
For me, completing my degree is about far more than earning a diploma. It is about fulfilling the curiosity that began when I was a child looking up at the sky, determined to understand the world beyond what I could see. Today, engineering has become the path that allows me to keep asking questions, solving problems, and contributing to the world through innovation. My goal is not only to become an engineer, but to use my knowledge to create practical solutions, support my family, and give back to communities facing challenges similar to those I have experienced.
This website is more than a fundraising campaign, it is a record of my journey. Here, I will continue sharing my academic progress, engineering projects, milestones, and achievements so that everyone who supports me can see the impact of their investment and follow the path we are building together.

My goal is to become a mechanical engineer who develops practical technologies that solve real-world problems and improve people's lives. I hope to build a career at the intersection of engineering, innovation, and entrepreneurship, where I can transform ideas into solutions with lasting impact. Beyond my own career, I want to create opportunities for others, contribute to a future where education, innovation, and resilience open doors that circumstances once closed.
